Abstract: The Relationship between Thai Royal Chronicles with Cambodian
Royal Chronicles: the case study in Cambodian Royal Chronicle in the
library of École française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO)

The Royal Society of Thailand
The Cambodian Royal Chronicles are important historical documents
to study the history of Thailand-Cambodia relation. The written versions of
Cambodian Royal Chronicle are preserved at the library of École française
d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO) in Paris, France. Those Royal Chronicles describe
the history of Thailand-Cambodia relation in various aspects. It is, for
example, the influence of Phraratchaphongsawadan Nuea (Thai Royal
Chronicle of the North) on the content of legend tales in the Cambodian
Royal Chronicles. Another influence is that the revision of the legend tales
in Cambodian Royal Chronicles during the reign of King Norodom added the
Buddha's prophecy at the beginning of contents, and the details about
mythological events in various reigns of the ancient Khmer kings in order
to further explain those situations. These mentioned influences are likely
to be impacted by the Phraratchaphongsawadan Nuea, which was revised
in Rattanakosin period during the reign of King Rama I.
