Figure 5 The Principles of Thai
Thai Language 3.0 saw a focus on the teaching of Thai for communication,
as seen in the present curriculum of the Ministry of Education, which includes
speaking, reading, writing, language principles, and literature (Ministry of
Education, 2020). This was the time to enable people in Thailand with different
languages and cultures to understand one another. This curriculum was
promulgated in 2008, before the Internet era in Thailand.
According to Luerat Anuratphanit (Luerat Anuratphanit, 2020), there
are five generations now alive in Thai society: Generation T (Traditionalists),
Generation B (Baby Boomers), Generation X, Generation Y (The Millennials) and
Generation Z.
Those members of Generation T were born before 1946 (aged 75 years old
and above); Generation B were born between 1946-1964 (ages between 56-74);
Generation X were born between 1965-1980 (between 40-55 years old);
Generation Y were born between 1981-2000 (between 20-39 years old); and
Generation Z were born after 2000 (under 20 years of age).
