Environmental, social, governance (ESG) is very important for business
organizations of any types and any sizes in the present and the future.
A visionary leader must be aware of the significance of ESG because
modern investors want to invest in companies that take care of the
environment, social responsibility and good governance. ESG must be
implanted to be the corporate culture of organizations that have the
sustainable goals. The objective of this article is to emphasize that ESG
must be set as the policy of a company. The Three Pillars of Sustainability
Model explains the three pillars which are environmental, social and
financial performances must stay on the base of the good governance
of a company all throughout. These are connected with the concept of
Triple Bottomline of John Elkington. It is not enough to consider the
success of a business by looking at the financial performance only, but it is
necessary to consider how a company performs on the environmental
and the social dimensions. A company must have the operation plan and
must communicate to employees in all divisions so that they know
and willing to engage in the ESG plan from the beginning. The corporate
sustainability index is used to measure the ESG performance. The article
points out the problems of performing ESG of business organizations in
Thailand and the suggestions are given.
