Abstract: Promoting Traffic Discipline for Well-Being in Thai Society

Traffic safety has been the focus of attention in the year 2022, due
to several unique accidents in the year. People are alert to find ways to
promote traffic safety in Thai society. Psychological principle, which can be
applied to promote traffic safety in Thai society, is behavior modification.
It includes Operant condition theory and Social cognitive theory. Operant
condition theory covers reinforcement and punishment. Social cognitive
theory focuses on observational learning. Applying behavior modification
principles to promote traffic discipline for well-being in Thai society consist
of: 1) Discipline starts at home, so we must train discipline to our children,
2) Enforcing laws consistently and appropriately, and 3) Preparing
traffic environment appropriately and effectively by, 3.1) Make up-level
crosswalk. 3.2) Using 5 sets of rumble strip before a crosswalk to slow
down a car or motorcycle on the road. 3.3) Consider appropriateness of
paintings and line drawing on the road. and 3.4) Traffic engineers work
without waiting for traffic lawmakers.
