Humboldt was not afraid of making mistakes; the most important point
is that he was always ready to correct himself or to completely change his mind. 19
In today’s world of self-centered societies and narrowing interests, we shall learn
from Humboldt, who believed in the free exchange of information and was
always willing to share his research and to support young scientists. Humboldt
is a good example of a life spent serving others and the calling of science. This is
still relevant in our time.
