Thailand and the United States established diplomatic relations on March 20, 1833,
with the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce during the reign of King Nangklao

(King Rama III) and the presidency of Andrew Jackson, the 7 President of the United States.
This treaty marked the first formal agreement between the United States and an Asian country.

Over the 190 years since, Thailand and the United States have continued to strengthen their ties.
