After World War II, King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit (King Bhumibol Adulyadej
the Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother) embarked on global visits in 1960, 1962,
and 1967 during the Cold War under the threat of communism around the world. This helped
strengthen relations with democratic nations in Asia, Europe, and the United States. These visits
succeeded in fostering goodwill, balancing power and enhancing Thailand’s global recognition
and acceptance after the war in 1945.
