Mayfong Mayxay is a Professor and Vice-President at University of Health
Sciences (UHS), Vientiane, Lao PDR and also a Visiting Professor of Tropical Medicine
at University of Oxford, UK. He is also the Chairman of Research Promotion and
Development of UHS. His research interests include varieties of infectious diseases,
AMR, and public health particularly mother and child health.
Elizabeth Ashley is Director of the Lao-Oxford-Mahosot Hospital-Wellcome Trust
Research Unit and a Professor of Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford UK.
She is a physician trained in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. Her research
interests include malaria, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, and
antimicrobial resistance.
Kesinee Chotivanich is an Associate Follow of the Royal Society of Thailand and a
Professor of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. She is the head of laboratory
malaria in Mahidol-Oxford University Research Unit. Her interests are malaria
pathophysiology and pharmacodynamics of antimalarial drugs. She provides
clinical-related laboratory training and works with malaria research teams on
international multi-center clinical trials, especially for tracking artemisinin resistance.
Sysavanh Phommachanh graduated in medicine, and obtained Master’s degree in
Health Social Sciences at Mahidol University, Thailand, research fellowship in Japan,
a Ph.D. in Public Health at VU Amsterdam University, Netherland. A lecturer and
researcher, currently position is the Vice-Director of IRED and in charge of health
education and research development. She also is a Vice-President of the Research
Ethic Committee of the UHS, a Steering Committee of the LaoHUN, and editing-editor
of Lao Medical Journal.
Alexo Esperato is a Senior Health Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
In this role, he implements projects to strengthen the health systems of Southeast
Asian countries. Before joining ADB in 2022, he worked on health systems
strengthening in Latin America, the Middle East, and India.
