                     Abstract

The Royal Society of Thailand (RST) will reach the centenary of establishment
in 2026 as the RST was originally founded as the Royal Society of Siam in the reign

of King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) on 19 April 1926. Then, the name was changed to
the Royal Institute of Thailand in 1934, as a government independent agency
under the prime minister’s supervision, consisting of three institutions: the Academy

of Moral and Political Sciences, the Academy of Science, and the Academy of Arts.
In 2015, the name was changed to the present one, the RST and, in 2023, there are
123 fellows and 8 honorary fellows appointed by the Royal Proclamation and 94
associate fellows. As recognized as a leader in academic excellence, the RST is
responsible for the academic work of the government and a Thai language

reference center. The RST provides intellectual resources for research, reference
and educational services. The RST is also known for its role in the planning and
regulation of the Thai language and other specific referential publications.

This article provides a brief introduction and interesting issues regarding the RST,
and celebration plan for the upcoming centenary of the RST in 2026.
