As English travels around the world, students may have heard Indian English,
Caribbean English, or Singlish (Singaporean English). Therefore, teachers have to adapt
their teaching to be suitable for real-life communications rather than teaching students
to use or memorize only the language formats of native speakers.
To sum up, English language teachers all over the world struggle substantially
with VUCA situations. Being aware of the challenges in their own contexts serves as
a wake-up call to boost future innovations and improvements in English language
teaching and learning. This is, then, a time for teachers to focus on core learning
priorities, to be intentional in how to support students, continue their own professional
development, and to be flexible in their expectations (Pultoo & Oojorah, 2021).
