In Climate Change and Inequality in Southeast Asia: Review, Prospects, Priorities,
Chris Baker explains that Southeast Asia lies in the region now expected to be
worst affected by climate change, that inequality will worsen, and that governments
should give priority to greening cities, and improving facilities to manage the
humanitarian impact.
In Towards a Fairer Personal Income Tax, Francis Cripps and Pasuk
Phongpaichit investigate the income sources of the top 1 % of Thailand in 2012,
showing that they underestimated their unearned income in their tax forms,
and suggesting improvements to the income tax system.
In Inequality and Policy, Pasuk Phongpaichit analyses the rise of inequality
in income and wealth in Thailand from the 1980s to the present, suggesting that
policies to reduce inequality are well known but the political will to implement
them is absent.
