A large number of orphans faced various problems such as mental, emotion, and learning disabilities that are related to the lack of good development. Although these problems can be lessen if the orphans could sensed and established their self-esteem through the values of self respects, self confidence, and positive thinking, that would enhance their problem solving skills, and life skills, etc. (Aree Panmanee, 1999: 57) Thus self-esteem can be a great foundation for all child development. (Sangduoan Taweesilp, 2002: 228 - 237). Art activities are usable for the good development of body andmind, social and intellectual skills, and shaping up of children behaviors, because art stimulates children’s awareness, sense of perception, andwide expressions of both positive and negative rudiments. (Wiroon Tangcharoen, 1994: 706). Recently, there have been art scholars and psychologists shown greater interest in the discipline of art therapy. This interest is also due to the on-going problems from societal development that affected ourmental health inmanyways. Such problem inmental health gaveway to the application of art therapy as alternative therapy to use creative arts inmental health treatment. Art therapy has been used in more varies settings in Thailand due to its friendly usefulness with almost any persons, whether young or old, male or female to amelioration of persons with mental problems (Lertsiri Bovornkitti, 2010: 25 - 29), because art is a powerful way of communication with our subconscious, emotion, and way of self-awareness and concentration discoveries (Prim Pisolayabutra, 2012: 22 - 40). In this study, the researchers aim at developing a set of art activities for the application with the orphans lacking self-esteemof theTharnnamjai Foundation, Phang-nga province.The art activities development is based on the art education in relation to art therapy and the self-esteem psychological concept.The art activities set as an experimental tool will be able to help the orphans in mental health recovery and refinement, support their creativity, and expressions through the art-making process to enhance their self-esteem, hoping that the self-esteem developing process will ameliorate the orphans to grow up with happiness and good development of moral, physical, and mental qualities. Objectives 1. To develop a set of art activities for the applicationwith the orphans lacking self-esteem. 2. To compare the pretest-posttest results of the study on Grade-III school orphans’ self-esteem, before and after the art activities intervention.
