About the Authors
Borimas Hanboonkunupakarn is a lecturer at the Department of Clinical Tropical
Medicine, and a clinician at Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Faculty of Tropical
Medicine, Mahidol University. Her background is MD-PhD and DTM&H with
experiences in Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials. Her research interests are tropical
disease, infectious disease and malaria focusing on safety and efficacy of triple
artemisinin combinations and blocking of malaria transmission.
Podjanee Jittamala is Assistant Professor at the Department of Tropical Hygiene.
She is a pediatrician with a specialization in infectious diseases. Dr. Podjanee’s research
expertise includes malaria epidemiology and conducting clinical trials to evaluate
malaria treatment and elimination strategies in the region. She is also experienced in
leading pragmatic trials, assessing the efficacy of treatments or therapies available for
malaria in clinical practice conditions.
Kittiyod Poovorawan is an Associated Professor at the Department of Clinical Tropical
Medicine, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. He is a medical doctor
with expertise in internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology, and clinical research
of tropical diseases. His primary research area is liver diseases included viral hepatitis,
liver abscess, chronic liver diseases, and gastrointestinal involvement of tropical
diseases.
Kesinee Chotivanich is an Associate Follow of the Royal Society of Thailand and a
Professor of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. She is the head of laboratory
malaria in Mahidol-Oxford University Research Unit. Her interests are malaria
pathophysiology and pharmacodynamics of antimalarial drugs. She provides clini-
cal-related laboratory training and works with malaria research teams on international
multi-center clinical trials, especially for tracking artemisinin resistance.
Sasithon Pukrittayakamee is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Thailand and an
Emeritus Professor of Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. Her clinical
research background is tropical diseases focusing on malaria, influenza, Cocid-19,
and control of malaria in Thailand and neighboring countries. She is working in
collaboration with the Mahidol-Oxford Research Unit, University of Oxford.
