Abstract A Song Recital of “Khun Chang - Khun Phaen”: The Episode where Khun Phaen Con- fronts Wanthong Chosita Maneesai Associate Member, the Academy of Arts, the Royal Institute, Thailand The episode “Khun Phaen intruding into Khun Chang’ s House”, from King Rama II’s work entitled Khun Chang - Khun Phaen, has always enjoyed particular fame among Thai readers for its esthetic and emotional qualities, especially the scene narrating the encounter between Wanthong and Khun Phaen. It is, therefore, of special interest to analyze the literary features and devices which contribute to such qualities. The study on this subject reveals the writer’s praiseworthy talent in the use of argumentation and rhetorical techniques comprising wit and the artistic use of words in a satirical fashion. Combined with a refined and harmonious composition, these elements create a vigorous literary power which has exerted impressive effects on the readers of all ages.
