Using an ordinary approach and a normal level of industry, many subjects may be acquired with ease in a relatively short time, while some cannot be mastered in all their minute details inspite of a student’s life-long training and study. As a result, short-cuts and special techniques are “invented”, one after another, in order to help serious students to accomplish this aim in the shortest time. They are designed to help students to understand thoroughly the pithy and salient features of the subject matter of his or her interest. Most of these techniques and short-cuts are ordinarily kept as professional secrets. The 18 special techniques, which the author presents in this article, should enable most serious students to attain success in a short time in self-training and self-study with regard to both the theory of and skill in Thai music. Key words : Thai music, training, studying
