This particular species, collected by Thawatchai Santisuk and Tem Smitinand on April 27, 1972, was not documented prior to this publication, owing to the lack of proper material. Further visits to the original collection site of the species resulted in the eventual recovery of a perfect sample in February 2001; this additional collection has provided the description of the new Wrightia . This new species of the genus Wrightia is strictly confined to the dry limestone hills of Amphur Praputthabat, Saraburi Province, is vulner- able as an endangered, endemic species. It is readily distinguishable from other Wrightia species by its remarkably numerous filamentous-like corona lobes. The specific epithet “ Wrightia sirikitiae Middleton & Santisuk” has been given in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand, who has long been interested in the diversity and complexity of natural ecological systems.
