Kasperson, Roger E., and Minghi, Julian Y., Abstract Environmental Determinism in Geography Chatchai Pongprayoon Fellow of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, The Royal Institute, Thailand The idea of environmental determinism in geography should be considered as subjective carelessness due to the rush of proposing regularities and laws. Contemporary geographers were just familiar to the descriptive techniques. When Friedrich Ratzel proposed the geographic idea of man and environmental relationship for human geography based upon Darwin’s theory of evolution, his disciples hastily jumped to conclusion without prove of any scientific evidence. Similarly, the idea of geopolitics and the states were overwhelmingly out of control of man. Geopolitics and the states had reached, its peak during the World Wars and eventually declined when geography entered the revolution period in the 1950’s. Key words : determinism, environment, geopolitics, Ratzel, Darwin, Semple 1969. The Structure of Political Geography. Chicago : Aldine Publishing Co. Bryson, Reid, et al. Physical Geography Today.
