Abstract The Aesthetic Value of Dok Mai Sot’s Phudi Ruenruthai Sujjapun Associate Fellow of the Academy of Arts, The Royal Institute, Thailand “Phudi” is one of the novels written by “Dok Mai Sot”, a female writer, after the revolution on June, 1932 when the aristocrat or “Noble Man” was effected both in economic status and social status. Also there was bourgeoisie, the new class, who increased gradually their power in Thai society from that time, the definition of the “Noble Man” was changed. “Phudi” tried to give a new definition that the aristocrat was not the one who only had good family and wealth but the one who had dignity, tolerance, temper-restrained, good manner, sacrifice, forgiveness. The one who was not greedy and commit good deeds without thinking of rewards. The writer used the technique of binary opposition to reflect clearly the theme of this novel.
