Abstract His Majesty King Mongkut : His Genius Manifesto on Buddhism Siddhi Butr-Indr Associate Fellow of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, The Royal Institute, Thailand The year 2547 B.E. premises Thailand celebrating the great bicentenary of His Majesty King Mongkut, in commemoration of his graceful life. This further attests to his immeasurable greatness, future - insight and genius manifesto in an invaluable contribution to Thai kingdom and Buddhism as the Religion of Thailand. He is the Philosopher King and the Renaissance Monarch, with the grandeur of sovereignties of wisdom and rightiousness perfectly accumulated for 27 years of his Buddhist monk life, who has accomplished and himself enculturated completely in Buddhism, philosophical and practical, before being invited to ascend the throne. All this helped him keep the Thai realm with Buddhism, for their independency and sovereignty, out of the reach of Western colonialist great powers , and in turn to gain their respects. He modernized Thailand, while savegarding Thai culture based on Buddhist spirituality. With his genius, he restored and reformed Buddhism, whichwas going on in decline and distability due to the corrupt Sangha of poor education and low quality leading to their wrong view and practice in the Lord Buddha’s Doctrine and Discipline. He has therefore the Sangha purified, improved and strengthened for their developed qualifications of good knowledge with good conduct, to enable them to regain right leadership of Buddhist community. By so doing, he became realized in the truth of Buddhism’s characteristics of humanism, rationalism, pragmatism, moderationism (Majjhimãpatipadã) and the foundation of sciences. He has founded a special school of the Thai Sangha, to ensure his sustainable reform in Buddhism, named “ Dhammayuttikanikaya ” , meaning “ those who adhere to the Doctrine and the Discipline ” , with Wat Bovornnives Vihara as their centre up to present days. Key words : Buddhism, reform
