ÚıÙ¯ 469 ª√–§Õß π‘ ¡¡“π‡À¡‘ π∑å Abstract The Story of Rama in Buddhist Literature Prakong Nimmanahaeminda Associate Fellow of the Academy of Arts, The Royal Institute, Thailand The story of Rama disseminated from India to Lanna and many Tai communities in neighbouring countries. This Indian myth has been changed into Buddhist literature in these areas. The studying of Rama stories of Lanna, Tai Lue and Laos can be concluded that local belief and practice in Buddhism are the main cause of this changing. There are three tactics in changing Rama stories into Buddhist literature : 1. The stories are mentioned to be devined from Buddhist doctrine written in Pali language 2. It is one of Jatakas. 3. Present some Buddhist teaching or Dhamma. Their significant function is to promote Buddhist Dhamma among the Tai people and to lead peaceful lives in societies.
