However dur- ing January to April of 2005, Thai- land experienced a trade deficit of approximately 185 billion baht. One of the main reasons of the trade IPP 31% SPP 8% Import 2% EGAT 59% deficit was oil and other fuel import. The ratio of oil and other fuel import value to the total import value increased from 11.6% in 2001 to 14.0% and 15.3% in 2004 and 2005 (January to April) respectively. The growth of oil and other fuel import, compared with the same period in the past, increased from 15.7% in 2001 to 44.1% and 60.8% in 2004 and 2005 (January to April) respec- tively.
