Apart from this the King also does his duty as a ç King of Righteousness é or thammaracha by teaching the thamma (dhamma) to his subjects. He does so in three ways: by personal example , through his writings , and through his speeches and sayings on various occasions. With his supreme proficiency in thinking , technology , and letters , His Majesty is able to com- municate his ideas fully and with full efficacy. The King û s thoughts and activities together with his great gifts in various fields all show clearly that His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is a great thammaracha as well as a true philosopher , the source of strength for his nation. They also show that he truly works for the contentment and well-being of the citizens and the country , fully living up to his accession statement to the Thai people uttered on the 5 th of May 1950: ç We shall reign with righteousness for the benefits and happiness of the Siamese people é .
