Úıı Abstract The Happiness of Kati: The Small World of a little girl Ruenruthai Sujjapun Associate Fellow of the Academy of Arts, The Royal Institute, Thailand The Happiness of Kati was awarded the S.E.A. Write Award in 2006. This beautifully novelette is outstanding in the content, the techniques of presentation and the literary languages. Though the book wrote about the separation of Kati and her mother with death, the readers do not much suffer because of the appreciation in the mother’s love and the warmness from her grandpa and grandma and the mother’s friends. This novel is like a mystery novel : there are secrets and the divulge of secrets from time to time which induce the readers to read eagerly to the end. However, the concept of S.E.A. Write Award may be changed in the future time according to the awarded novel this year. Key words : Happiness of Kati, S.E.A. Write Award
