Abstract The Conservation of Khon Na Cho Pairoj Thongkumsuk Associate Fellow of The Academy of Arts, The Royal Institute, Thailand Phu Rotchana/Author/Poet/Creator of Thaksin (Southern) Literature Chuan Petkaew existed since before the start of mass publication. In the old days, literary works were recorded in a kind of homemade book known as Nangsue Bud or Samut Khoi, which is made from dried leaves. Most works bare no record of their authors. Sometimes, there are names of the copier (a person who copies the work onto the book but not the composer himself). Sometimes the name appearing on the book is that of the patron who provides financial sponsorship for the creation of the book. Most creators of Thaksin literature are monks or religious laymen since they are well learned in both Dhamma and the secular world. The works are meant to be like an educational charity which the creators believe would bring them enlightenment and happiness. In the Central Region, the content and the language used are sometimes influenced by the Royal Court if the authors have a personal link to it. Though most works are being distributed free of charge, some aren’t. Those that are composed for financial gain are, however, written in Klon with more variety in content. Besides the monks and the learned laymen, sometimes performers and singers would participate in writing the literary works as well. Key words : Khon Na Cho
