The first barge collided the bridge pillar causing the barge no.2 to sink into the river. The barge also collided a house before sinking. This accident subsequently caused other impacts as follows: The sunken barge interrupted river flow resulting in the change of flow direction, and this subsequently causing several house collapsed by the erosion of the river bank. Raw sugar in the sunken barge dissolved in the river resulted to the oxygen depletion. Significant amount of aquatic animals, especially fish, died because of the oxygen depletion.
