The causative organisms that found in rats are Streptobacillus moniliformis or Spirillum minus. The clinical manifestations are fever, headache, chills, vomiting, rash, and polyarthritis. Diagnosis is mainly based on the history of illness, clinical symptoms, and character- istic growth in cultures. Penicillin is the most effective treatment. If left untreated, the mortality rate is 7 to 10% due to complications. Keywords: rat-bite fever
