Bisphosphonates using for prevention or treatment of some specific diseases initiates bone sclerosis and deprivation of blood supply. The patients tak- ing intravenous injection bisphosphonates have a higher risk for developing BRONJ while patients taking oral bisphosphonates have a low risk. BRONJ in these patients usually occurs as a non healing socket after tooth extraction or exposed bone in oral cavity more than three weeks after oral surgical management. Dental practitioner may be the one who recognises the disease earlier and thus plays an important role in prevention, treatment and follow up. The patients who are taking or scheduled to recieve bisphosphonates therapy should inform their dentist to prevent complications from dental surgical procedure.
