อคติ การกีดกั น และความสั มพั นธ์ของมนุษย์ 80 The Journal of the Royal Institute of Thailand Vol. 38 No. 4 Oct-Dec 2013 The success of President Barack Obama who was elected twice despite the fact that he is an African American indicates that a deep rooted social problem such as racism in America can be changed. The case of the American prejudice offers hope that prejudice can change provided that the society has the right philosophical and moral foundations that are supported by the efforts and courage to change,bringing the people one step further to the realization of their ideals. What the Americans achieved is, there is hope to overcome one of the most difficult human weaknesses i.e. prejudice and through serious studies and soul-searching, the American academia has discovered that contacts, communication, equal status, friendships among people of diverse backgrounds, healthy interaction based on cooperation etc. can all contribute to the reduction of prejudice. Thus the American system, especially, the academia do not only achieve real change in the Americans’ attitude in a relatively short period of time but it also shed lights on the ways to solve or reduce the problem with solid solutions derived from scientific studies.
