Abstract Chbab Literature: Men's Teaching Prayoon Songsilp Associate Fellow of the Academy of Arts, The Royal Institute, Thailand Chbab is a Cambodian teaching written by ancient Khmer philosophers in order to teach and train male people. The teaching concepts were taken from Buddhist philosophy and also from the conducts and behaviors of elderly people and the writers' own experiences. The first edition of Chbab appeared during the period of Oddong, a former Khmer capital city. Men's teaching was written in order to teach the male heads of the families to lead their lives with appropriate manners and etiquettes. The teaching principles were to be polite and modest, diligent, hard working, economize and to protect their assets. They were taught to behave themselves following the middle pathway; to refrain from vice and temptation which could bring disasters; the three insanity which were girls, alcoholic beverages and gambling to their families.
