จารึ กฐานปราสาทโลหะวั ดวิ ชุน เมื องหลวงพระบาง 60 The Journal of the Royal Society of Thailand Vol. 40 No. 2 Apr-June 2015 Abstract The Inscription on the Base of Loha (Metallic) Prasat at Wichun Temple, Laung Phabang Kannika Wimonkasem Associate Fellow, Academy of Arts, The Royal Society of Thailand. The Loha Prasat (metallic castle) found at Wichun Temple, Loung Phabang has a square base which is partially damaged and the peak of the Prasat has been lost. The Inscription was inscribed in Lanna Language with Damma Lanna script in 3 lines on each sides of the square base, The alphabets of the Inscriptions on the first and second sides are perfectly clear but at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth sides are illegible because of the damage of the base. The content of the inscription mentioned that; on Friday, the sixth lunar month, November, 1726 A.D. Phraya Laung Chao Mangphala Saphaek the governor of Chiang Rai and Chiang Saen, Princess Busabasiriwatthanathepha Rajakanya and Prince Pha Yot Ngam Mueang casted this Prasat, weighing 60,000 (about 72 kg.) to enshrine Buddha’s images and relics. Princess Busabasiriwatthanathepha Rajakanya, prayed for the wishes that after death she should be born in the Tavatingsa (heaven) and meet her son, Prince Pha Yot Ngam Mueang there. Let both of them take care of the Culamani Cetiya and whenever the future Buddha, Phra Sri Ariyametteyya attained the enlightenment she and her son should be ordained as nun and monk in Buddhism and they should attain Arahanta (the state of being an enlightened Buddhist saint). This inscription is assumed that it simultaneously casted with six inscriptions of the same donors in Chiang Rai or Chiang Saen, Thailand. It is very important for the study of language and development of characters and orthography of Dhamma Lanna script during the period of Burmese domination over Lanna which only few Inscrip- tions are found. Moreover, the content of the inscription also provides the historical background of the city of Chiang Rai and Chiang Saen, too. Keywords: Inscription, Metallic Prasat, Wichun Temple, Damma Lanna script
