Gu-Zheng has a long history which can be traced back to even before the construction of the Great China wall. Chinese people believe that the instrument is played by heavenly beings and came down from the heavens to the human world. Originally Gu-Zheng had 50 strings and its flowing sounds resembling the sounds of water, gave much pleasure to those to heard it and were reminiscent of heaven.
