As Thailand has been facing social changes from agricultural to industrial society in the past decades, the needs for social welfare development in public and private sectors is essential for Thailand. This article discusses social welfare covering the meaning, approaches, applications both in public and private sectors. The article also discusses major issues relevant to current economic and social development plans. This article is divided into six parts: 1) Introduction, 2) The meaning of social welfare, 3) Social welfare approaches, 4) Applications in public and private sectors, and 6) Conclusion.
