(8) Proceedings of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Congress The First Gem of Interdisciplinary Scholar Medal On the auspicious occasion of the 5 th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of Her Royal Highness PrincessMahaChakri Sirindhorn, the Royal Patronage of theOffice of the Royal Society ofThailand’s Interdisciplinary Network, the Interdisciplinary Committee for Research and Development and the Interdisciplinary Foundation for Research and Development unanimously agreed to humbly request the Royal permission to confer upon Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn “The First Gem of Interdisciplinary Scholar” Medal to commemorate this auspicious occasion and to publicize Her interdisciplinary talents for dignity of the Kingdom of Thailand and the prosperity of the Royal Society of Thailand. The Interdisciplinary Foundation for Research and Development made the First Gem of Interdisciplinary Scholar Medal with overwhelming loyalty. This medal is made from a mixture of nine metallic alloys and is nine centimeters in diameter, which indicates that this medal was made during the reign of King Rama IX. Additionally, the medal is 0.60 centimeter thick, which symbolize the 60 th Birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The front side of the medal shows a photo of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn in full uniform with a sash under the Royal logo of the celebration of the auspicious occasion of the 5 th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on 2 April 2015. The lower edge of the front side is engraved with the following words “Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, The First Gem of Interdisciplinary Scholar”. The backside of the medal shows the logo of the Interdisciplinary Foundation for Research andDevelopment above the date “2 April 2015” with the following words “The Interdisciplinary Foundation for Research and Development confers upon Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the auspicious occasion of Her 60 th Birthday Anniversary”. Themedal was designed byMr. NonthivathnChandhaphalin, National Artist inVisual Arts (Sculpture) of the year 2006, who has created various styles of excellent artwork and has servedHis Majesty the King and members of the Royal Family for many years. He neatly designed, drafted, and supervised the moulding process for the medal. Mr. Punya Kamken was authorized to mould the beautiful photo of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the front side of the medal and supervised the casting process. The Interdisciplinary Committee for Research and Development confers upon Her Royal Highness PrincessMaha Chakri Sirindhorn the First Gemof Interdisciplinary ScholarMedal on the occasion which Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presides over the Opening Ceremony of the Princess Maha Chakri Congress (the Fifth Interdisciplinary Day Conference) on the Interdisciplinary Approach to Sustainable Research and Development on 3 June 2015 at IMPACT Forum, IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi.
