409 Proceedings of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Congress ceremony included the singing of a special song played by the RoyalThai Navy SymphonyOrchestra to honor HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a special classical Thai dance to bless HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Following the official opening ceremony, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously took time to view the Congress poster sessions and ask questions to the researchers. Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Krasae Chanawongse gave a keynote speech on “View on Good Governance in National Reform and Development”. Professor Chanawongse discussed at depth the importance of good governance, educational reform, and leadership development inThailand. Superintendent of the National Defense College (NDC), Lt. General Surasit Thanadtang’s followed with a briefing on the holistic approach and development of the interdisciplinary research program at the NDC. The final presentation of the day was given by Professor Sripasit Boonvisut, M.D. whose speech was titled “Music and the Man”. The talk discussed the impacts that music has on the human neural development and the adult human brain. The eventful first day of the Congress closed with a reception for all Congress participants that included live music and a classical Thai performance. The second day of the Congress opened with a keynote speech on Hazard of Vulnerability and Risk toNatural Disasters in Southeast Asia: AGeophysical Point of Viewby ProfessorManfred Koch. Professor Koch effectively communicated the risk paradigm in relation to Southeast Asia as well as the importance disaster preparedness has onmitigating the impact of a natural disaster.The second speech of the morning was given by Professor Kirti Bunchua (a Fellow at the Royal Society of Thailand) on philosophy and interdisciplinary approach towards research and development. He provided insightful examples on the role philosophy has on subjects ranging from Physics to History to Mathematics. At the conclusion of the two morning speakers, the Congress broke into nine parallel sessions and two symposia sessions highlighting research that has implemented an interdisciplinary approach towards long-termsustainable development.The parallel session topics were as follows: Science, Technology and Logistics (coordinated by Professor Dr. Srisakdi Charmonman), Sciences, Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment (coordinated by Professor Dr. Piamsak Menasavet, Associate Professor Dr. Wongchan Wongkaew and Associate Professor Sayam Aroonsrimorakat), Law and Law Enforcement (coordinated by Associate Professor Dr. Puntip Sirivunnabood and Professor Dr. Pathaichit Eagjariyakorn), Economics, Politics, andGovernment Administration (coordinators H.E.
