388 Proceedings of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Congress finding. More complicatedly, there will need to be some governmental assistance tomove products from the local roadside shelves to the store shelves bothwithin the country and the global markets. The Sufficiency Economy of Scale Approach The key player to make the idea work is the involvement of the people, especially the local members of the community to participate in the development (NESDB 2007: p. 14 - 19). It is not known presently whether they are ready or willing to take part in it since there is no survey or communication about it with them. The beginning of the project should then be simple and small. This rightly fits the concept of the sufficiency economy starting from an individual or family, moving up to the community scale and upwards to the national level. The Approach The developmental approach should be simple, driving to the point and involving people from all concerned parties in the process. The ideas can be outlined as follows. Simple Start Begin with something simple. Get ready with one or a few individuals and help them be well-grounded in the development with some positive outcomes. Once the initial target population has been grounded well enough, possibly there can be trained as trainers to help others in their family circles or community to get started. An operational cycle is then initiated. Afterwards, there could be a snowballing into the outer circle. Moving with the circle of influence is a key to success. 1. National The Drive There is always a question in a social operation, that is, ‘What’s in it for me?’ People will always want to knowwhat is the positive gain they would receive. Though we may foresee the final goal and have that in mind all the time, the people on the ground will only want to know what they can get within a short leash. Lay it out with them what these could be done and set up the goal to achieve them. Let them drive the operations with the development team’s assistance. They may see all the stages of the goal setting but make it tangible and achievable, from stage to stage. Following is a simple listing of the drive to the goals they may want to involve in. 1. Simple Use 2. Simple Sale
