Nowadays, more andmore psychiatrists have amore liberal attitude towards the treatment of patients. In addition to using medicine, they wish to receive support from alternative therapies. Speaking of the practice of art therapy in Vietnam, doctors at the National Institute of Mental Health said the institute was tasked with training psychiatric personnel. Also, it regularly held training workshops, symposiums and professional conferences. It had cooperative ties with the Psychosomatic Department of the University of Freiburg concerning the development of psychological therapies including group psychological therapy, family therapy, system therapy and art therapy, which was still new to itself. Both the National Institute of Mental Health and Mai Huong Daytime Mental Hospital wished to cooperate with Vietnam University of Fine Arts in the application of art therapy in-house and nationwide. Conclusions In the current period, Vietnamese medicine and research institutes are faced with major challenges in terms of developing treatments that meet regional and international standards. In order tomake full use of art inmedical treatment inHanoi, it is necessary to carry out the following recommendations. First, research into art therapy should be promoted and currently used art therapy in the region and the world widely communicated. Second, more talks, conferences and symposiums on art therapy and its role in health care and society should be organized and must attract the participation of art therapists, doctors, artists, researchers of institutes, hospitals and community-assisting agencies.Third, there should be plans for sending people to academic courses in countries having experience and success in art therapy. Fourth, foreign experts should be invited to assist with the design of academic subjects and curriculum on art therapy at certain universities in Vietnam. Finally, doctors at health establishments across the nation should be encouraged to learn about art and how to use it as a therapy in their diagnosis and treatment. Figure 4 Assoc.
