307 Proceedings of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Congress Figure 12 - 15 Music therapy at the Rajvithi Home for Girls A part of the Teaching Music in primary/secondary school course, the 3 rd and 4 th year students in the Western Music Program are required to teach music at the Rajvithi Home for Girls where it is the center for girls aged 5 - 18 years who lack opportunities or suffer from family problem, poverty, learning problem, child abuse, etc. This activity has been organized annually for 4 years since 2010. Our students gained a hands-on experience in bringing music lessons to heal those girls’ mental health and change their behaviors. This project would not benefit only the children but also our students themselves. They could perceive that in a real teaching, there would possibly be a lot of problems occurred. Apart from the music knowledge, they had learned another important factor in teaching which is concerning ‘psychology’. After the project, the students had been interviewed in order to reflect on what they have learned fromdoing this activity. The result showed as a qualitative significance thatmusic can relieve distress. When they heard music, they moved, danced and sang along. Their reactions to music could imply that they were happy, relaxed, and looked confident. It was a great sharing moment between trainers and learners. Consequently, our students would love teaching job and be willing to be a giver without expecting anything in return.
