In the same period, Professor honors Dr. Phrimphrao Ditsayawanit, clinical psychologists at Department of psychiatry, Faculty of medicine, Chiang Mai University, has been pioneering work of art therapy and play therapy for children in the psychiatric ward. Because of the children weren’t able to use language to communicate, simple work of art can be very useful to understand the problem that causes the child frustration and internal conflict (8) . Art is the media in building therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the children (1) . Nowadays, art therapy has been applied in the process of treatment inmany psychiatric hospitals in Thailand, such as Srithanya Hospital, Somdej Chao-Phraya Institute, Ganlaya Rajanagarindra institute, etc. Art therapy for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities InThailand, art therapy has been applied in the personwith intellectual and developmental disabilities for long periods of time. Rajanukul Institute has applied art therapy programs for these patients group for more than 20 years; since 1987. The results are satisfactory. It can stimulate the development, help alleviate the problem of emotion and behavior, and enhance to use the full potential (3) . Art is a second language of childrenwith disabilities to communicate and to learn. Children can learn concept formation through the art faster than themain communicationmethod. Artwork can be used to reflect what they know and what they think. Therefore, the art led to a goal in the treatment as well. In 2006, the author and Ms. Somjit Kraisri, art therapist at Rajanukul Institute, had developed “the art therapy program for the personwith intellectual and developmental disabilities, age range of 15 - 25 years, Rajanukul Institute”.There are themanual of the program in publications and CDs (3) (9) . The art therapy program is the group therapy in day hospital setting, which treatment of bundled themes each week, 4 days per week, 6 hours per day. The program consisting of 6 art activity bases, which are drawing, painting, scalping, crafting, woven and batik. It is supplemented with group activities, special experiences. I found that the result is satisfactory. It can reduce the severity of the emotional level, aggressive behavior, increase concentration and foster social skills development (9) . There are also a program of art therapy for group of children aged 4 - 15 years, a program for outpatient department, a program for family camp, etc. (3) . Art therapy for children who have been abused or sexual abused The center for the protection of children’s rights foundation (CPCR) has applied the art therapy program for abused children since 1993.
