Pung Motu (Younger) (2 years and 10 months old): Left front foot stepping on the landmines Treatment: October 11, 2005 - October 14, 2006 (Treatment period of 369 days) Pung Moshe and Pung Motu are siblings following the mother elephant to work on timbering in Myanmar and accidentally stepping on landmines there. Because the two elephants were still young and healthy, the wounds healed fast and the duration of treatment was shorter than the older elephants. However, PungMotu’s treatment experienced some problems at the beginning because the baby elephant was still young and had not been trained yet. It refused to stay still for the wound care dressing so it was tied to the tying post when given the sedative and wound cleaning in the very first day. Later, the wound care was easier after the baby elephant became familiar with the process. 12. Mosha (7 months old): Right front foot was injured by stepping on the landmines Treatment: June 11, 2006 - present (The owner donates the baby elephant to the Friends of the Asian Elephant.) The blast of explosion had destroyed 100% of her entire sole of right front foot causing the wound to float above the floor and the left front foot had injured by the flake of the bomb. However, the baby elephant was still young, healthy and co-operates well with the treatment, therefore, the healing of wound was fast and the treatment period was shorter. Mosha had lost one
