226 Proceedings of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Congress Database Officer in Bangkok via e-mail who will later input them in ArcGIS program to produce shape(s). The monitor on filed operation progress (progressive shapes) can then be done by PM or related project’s staffs. 7. Progression of MRCT Project 7.1 Landmine Clearance using LR Process TDA deploys LR process in landmines clearance operation of MRCT project in order to return safe area to local community. In the first step, project staffs conduct non-technical survey where they gather sufficient information on the minefield to identify part(s) of the minefield that have no evidence of the presence of mines. The identified land shall be deducted from the total minefield called cancellation . The second step, known as technical survey, project staff further investigate the remaining land not cancelled from step one by using equipment such as metal detectors. Land confidentially proven not to have mines shall be deducted. The deduction of land in this step is called releasing . In the third and final step, is the full clearance on remaining land. Project staff clear every square inches of land using metal detectors and other relevant resources. Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and Release Safe Area TDA field team began LR process to CHA no. 0387 -1 with NTS during 16 th to 17 th June 2014, just after the completion of training course. In this NTS step, they went to conduct communitymeeting in 3 villages situated in the proximity of thementionedCHAnamely; Taweng village, Jarat village, and Jaratpattana village in Jaratpattana sub-district, Buached district, Surin province. From NTS, they could divide area into five sectors according to degree of landmine contamination. Of them, sector 5 is a mine-free and so canceled by NTS. However, 3 percent was sampled to assure there is really no mine. Conduct Technical Survey and Traditional Clearance After NTS, TDA field teammoved to conduct technical survey (TS) in the remaining sectors of CHA 0387-01. They must first established or set up the control point (CP) for administration and other purposes. In doing so, they prepared area which situates about 350 meters far from the edge of CHA 0387-01 boundary, adjacent to the road leading to minefield. In that prepared area, all required facilities and particular points were built according to TDA’ SOP, such as administration point, medical point, metal detector testing point, parking area, resting area, and so on. Deminers will use metal detector to search for landmine/UXO in his given sampling lane. He actually proceeds demining drill; be it trip wire feel, grass cutting, searching for metal, ground excavation, and prodding to identify landmine. Once he can open ground about one third of dangerous object, he will use his radio to inform FM and AFM about type of landmine/UXO he guesses it should be. Inmany cases, deminer can visualize landmine laid obviously on ground and can even identify type. FM then order deminer to stop operation and take utmost carefulness. If
