203 Proceedings of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Congress all SLE patients who attended the rheumatology ward and clinic. Therefore, we assess the clinical features and define the prognostic factors of patients with SLE related seizure. II. Patients and Methods A. Study Population Patients diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus seen at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital between January 1996 and January 2014 were enrolled. The criteria for diagnosis of SLE were based upon ACR criteria [1]. The study was approved by the Institutional Review Board at this institution (103-2394C). Written informed consent was not obtained from each patient due to its retrospective chart review nature. B. Data collection We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 691 patients with SLE admitted to our hospital between 1996 and 2014. The medical records of 691 subjects were reviewed from the time of diagnosis until death, loss to follow-up, or the end of the study (January, 2014). Collected data included gender, age at admission, clinical features at presentation, laboratory test results from the first encounter, mortality and morbidity. Patients were diagnosed as having seizure by means of clinical presentations and seizures were defined as being due to neuropsychiatric lupus after exclusion of secondary causes such as electrolyte imbalance, azotemia, hypertensive encephalopathy, and CNS infection. C. Statistical analysis Numerical data were presented as means ± SD, while categorical data were expressed as absolute frequencies and percentages. Chi-square test was used as needed for group comparisons of categorical data, and two-tailed Student t-test was used for group comparisons of numerical data. The results were considered statistically significant if p < 0.05. Additionally, multivariate analysis was performed using Cox regression to identify independent risk factors for mortality. The hazard ratio (HR) was presented with a 95% confidence interval (CI).The survivals of patients after SLE diagnosis were calculated with Kaplan-Meier curves; p-values < 0.05 were considered significant. All statistical calculations were performed using SPSS 20.0 software (IBMSPSS Statistics 20, United States). III. Results A. Patient Demographics Of the 691 SLE patients in this study, 613 (89%) were female and 78 (11%) were male. The mean age at diagnosis was 40.8 ± 16.0 years. The mean duration of follow-up was 8.53 ± 7.07 years. Overall, 99 (14.3%) patients died during the period of the study. Of the 163 cases of CNS
