110 Proceedings of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Congress to make chemical free pesticide and organic fertilizer from their farm resources along with certain types of plants that can help improve the soil quality. Their farm expenses are likely to be reduced. The principle of reasonableness is focused by giving an advice to farmers that they should not follow the trend blindly. For example, if their geographical conditions are not suitable for producing any types of agricultural products that flood the markets, farmers are encouraged to grow some other crops that are suitable for the geographical conditions. RDSCs have also been promoting the last principle of self-immunity that farmers are recommended to adopt the New Theory and integrated farming practices to have enough to eat first. When there is surplus, it will be sold. Furthermore, occupational training courses are offered for the locals to earn extra in order to create self-immunity for their future situation. As for the condition of morality, His Majesty has dedicated both physically and mentally to development work for the sake of the nation with moral and ethical conducts. His Majesty, therefore, became a role model for others in the areas of morality and devotion. As a consequence, His Majesty started to earn trust and faith from various concerned agencies as well as his methods of development that they are willing to lend a helping hand to RDSCs to be a part of his development works. V. Conclusion The past development guidelines overlooked the concern towards sustainability.Thailand, therefore, adopted an alternative approach introduced by His Majesty with the focus that has been shifted away from growth-centered development to human development. The philosophy also stresses on sustainability in order for the citizens to become self-reliant. Not only Sufficiency Economy is aimed at providing benefits for the Thai people at large, it can also serve as a goal and means of development for other countries. At present, the world is undergoing the problems concerning the consumerismparadigmsuch as overpopulation, overconsumption, environmental degradation, crime, and economic crises. RDSCs act as anonly example of howSufficiency Economy can be applied. There are more examples of Sufficiency Economy that was applied in other sectors and levels. It is important to note that the two conditions, knowledge andmorality are actually the most important aspects in order to achieve Sufficiency Economy. Most people always emphasized on the three principles, but the two conditions instead are the key. The knowledge condition is important to create a stable foundation to support the further progress of development. The philosophy does not prevent the people from being rich, but wealth needs to be accumulated on a good and stable foundation in order tomake sustainable progress. Therefore, gathering knowledge is necessary. If the people receive thorough knowledge on the concept and its application, they will fully understand the philosophy and will apply it their everyday life. Moreover, if people hold on to the morality condition, it will serve as guidance to appropriate conducts. In this way, the development of the country will gear towards sustainability with the proper application of Sufficiency Economy.
