During the visits, which first started in 1959, the King has helped to ease the sufferings and prosper the happiness of his people. The fact has especially been demonstrated since 1972, when Thaksin Ratchaniwet Palace was built at Narathiwat Province. The palace has become the royal retinue of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and their children almost every year. Their Majesties have worked closely to take care of joys and sorrows of the people in the area. Their ultimate aims have been that the people would be released from all of their sufferings, and there would be a true peace and a live in harmony between the Thai Muslim and the Buddhist Thai in the area. After the time His Majesty was kind enough to order the establishment of Pikunthong Royal Development Study Centre, His Majesty has given a great number of royal initiations to the study centre and other involving governmental agencies, so that they have been able to find appropriate way to assist his royal subjects. This has based on knowledge and technological transfer in the simplest way for basic understanding of the people, and on application of His Majesty’s self-sufficient economy idea for the management of the area.
