Bot. 15 (1995) 303. Type : Beusekom & Phengklai 1348, Thailand Chiang Mai, Doi Chiang Dao (holotype C) This is one of a few Thai endemism described in 1995. The plant has so far been recorded only from limestone ridges of Doi Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary (Changwat Chiang Mai) at the altitude of ca . 2,000 m. It is closely allied to H. griffithianum Wall. but differ by the following characters: no glandular line on the leaf surface, densely hairy on the lower leaf surface, smaller, elliptic-oblong, deeper divided labellum. Type: to be selected This epiphytic taxon growing on trees or rocky ground is one of the widely distributed species, ranging from India, Tibet, Myanmar, South China, Thailand. Indochina to Malay Peninsula. In Thailand, it can be found at Doi Chiang Dao, Doi Inthanon (Changwat Chiang Mai), Phu Miang (Changwat Uttaradit), Phu Luang, Phu Kradueng (Changwat Loei). The inflorescence of this species is erect with a pubescent rachis. The bracts are not imbricate, oblong, hairy, apex round, and subtend 4-6 flowers. The flowers of this taxon have hairy calyx and corolla tubes, white linear staminodes, white clawed labella deeply devided into obovate-oblong halves, stamens with long filaments and sagittate anthers, and densely hairy ovary.
