237 ชลดา เรื องรั กษ์ลิ ขิ ต วารสารราชบัณฑิตยสถาน ปีที่ ๓๙ ฉบับที่ ๓ ก.ค.-ก.ย. ๒๕๕๗ Abstract Panji Misarang: Another Version of Thai Panji Stories Cholada Ruengruglikit Associate Fellow of the Academy of Arts, The Royal Institute, Thailand Princess Chalerm Khet Mongkhon composed Panji Misarang, another version of Thai Panji Stories with its different plot and content from the former Inao and Dalang , to be performed as Lakhon Phanthang in her palace on the occasion of celebrating her own birthday in 1952. She concluded and adapted the content in order to be appropriate for her modern audiences from Inao by Prince Boriphat Sukhumphan. The prince had translated this work in Thai from Hikayat Panji Semirang , the Melayu version composed in prose with some poetry, which was translated from one of Java version. It is remarked that some words in some verses in Inao by King Rama II were added in Panji Misarang as well. Panji Misarang is a complete script focusing on conversations of the actors and the description of the teller in performance. Thai dancing was not much found. The name of songs and melody were given as well as the costume in Java style and Java crown. The numerous Java melodies were composed. The descriptions for the director were also given. The play was divided into sixty two scenes in which short events were presented. The actors recited their words. Some songs in Klon Bot Lakhon were also inserted. The narrative was used in order to run the performance quicklier. The outstanding of Panji Misarang are as follows. Ratu Daha is sex mad. He has three main wives, Pramaisuri, Madewi and Liku. The latter is over ambitious. She has charmed Ratu Daha to be infatuated with her and kills Pramaisuri. Ayang, her daughter, is jealousy and loves to snatch everything from Jintarakirana, her sister of different mother. Ayang gets marry with Inu, the fiancé of Jintarakirana, because Jintarakirana has run away from the city after being seriously punished by Ratu Daha. In the play, Inu and Jintarakirana disguise themselves many times in order to search for each other. Finally they meet and happily live together. It is found that, in this version, Inu is obedient and Jintarakirana is a determined princess. These are different from Inao and Butsaba who are very stubborn and weakling respectively in Bot Lakhon Nai Inao by King Rama II..
