Thailand has set special economic zones in six areas, in the first phase, in Tak Province, Trat Province, Mukdahan Province, Songkhla Province and Nong Khai Province. The government aims to promote economic development and investment in special economic zones to keep pace with the opening of the ASEAN Economic Community to be held in late 2558. However, the big investment support of the Government of Thailand to attract foreign industrial investors to invest in special economic zones set up in various provinces, is a dream or not, depends on, 1. The global economy is in recession or expansion. 2. Opening of the ASEAN Community 3. Competition from special economic zones of neighboring countries. 4. Dependence on raw materials, agricultural products, fisheries, minerals and other natural resources available in the region. 5. The conflict between the idea of developing special economic zone between the local people and the central government policy. Suggestions of solution that will make dreams come true include providing more government budgets for the development of network infrastructure and offer more preferential financial and tax incentives than neighboring countries, promotion and aggressive marketing, One Stop Services, promotion of human resources development, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, conservation of natural resources and the environment, to provide raw materials for factories set up in special economic zones. Finally the government should set up general election to build confidence among foreign investors.
