261 ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.มนั ส สุวรรณ วารสารราชบัณฑิตยสภา ปีที่ ๔๐ ฉบับที่ ๓ ก.ค.-ก.ย. ๒๕๕๘ Abstract The Lesson from Ban Sam kha Manas Suwan Associate Fellow of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, The Royal Society of Thailand. Country development, particularly increasing the betterment of the people, as has been done by governments in the past is considered to be not quite successful. As the development strategies have been implemented, it seems like the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. It is believed that there are at least two main causal factors causing the failure. While not thoroughly understanding the causes of the problem is the one, the centralization policy is the other. This article is an attempt to translate the lesson of success learned from Ban Sam k ha in Lampang Province to the public. Particular aim in doing so is to induce any organization concerned to learn from the development prototype in the hope that this lesson would be taken into implementation, and be the alternative approach for country development. Keywords: Ban Sam k ha, Lesson of success, Leader’s conscience
