The advancement in academic realm is contingent upon a variety of positive factors, particularly the very scholar who is intent on embarking on the discovery of new horizons of knowledge. In the case of Sociology around the mid-20 th century, Talcott Parsons commanded a leading role. Parsons was reared up in the family which valued intellect. He was also quite fortunate in obtaining exceptionally high quality education and got opportunities to take part in international academic gatherings. In addtion, he had colleagues and students under his training who had collaborated in one way or the other with him in numerous intellectual pursuits. Furthermore, during most of his lifetime, with the exception of the McCarthy era, the American society bestowed upon him opportunities to think and write scholarly articles and books as well as engaged in various seminars and symposia. All such favorable circumstances plus his inborn intellect had played very crucial role in the advancement of the discipline of Sociology.
