วารสารราชบัณฑิตยสภา ปีที่ ๔๓ ฉบับที่ ๑ ม.ค.-เม.ย. ๖๑ ๒ Japan, the United States of America and Canada respectively. Their Majesty last foreign visit was after the 1932 Revolution. This time Their Majesty paid their visit to France, Italy, Vatican, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Switzerland. The major intentions of all royal visits were not only to strengthen close ties of friendship with foreign countries, but also to observe modern progress in more developed countries allowing their Majesty to work beneficially for the prosperity of their Kingdom upon their return to Siam. Moreover, there were also personal reasons behind the royal visits, namely Their Majesty personal leisure and His Majesty the King’s eye and vision care. One of the most impressed reflections were Their Royal the King and the Queen staying together exquisitely at all places during the visits. This demonstrated clearly the acceptance of the more equal role of Siamese women appearing side-by-side their husband in the same manners with their foreign counterparts. Keywords : His Majesty King Prajadhipok, Her Majesty Queen Rambai Barni, The Overseas Royal Visits ความนา นับจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงริเริ่มการเสด็จพระราชดาเนิน เยือนต่างประเทศในทวีปเอเชียและทวีปยุโรปทั้งเป็นทางการและเป็นการส่วนพระองค์แล้ว พระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวเป็นพระมหากษัตริย์ที่ได้เสด็จพระราชดาเนินเยือน ต่างประเทศโดยพระราชประสงค์เช่นเดียวกับพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว สมเด็จ พระบรมชนกนาถ นอกจากนี้ยังได้ทรงขยายการเสด็จพระราชดาเนินไปสู่อินโดจีน ญี่ปุ่น สหรัฐอเมริกา และแคนาดาด้วย ซึ่งทุกครั้งสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าราไพพรรณี พระบรมราชินีจะเสด็จ พระราชดาเนินเคียงคู่พระราชสวามีเสมอ เช่นเดียวกับการเสด็จพระราชดาเนินไปยังสถานที่ต่าง ๆ ในประเทศ การเสด็จพระราชดาเนินเยือนต่างประเทศ ในช่วงระยะเวลา ๙ ปี แห่งรัชกาลที่ ๗ (พ.ศ. ๒๔๖๘-๒๔๗๗) พระบาทสมเด็จ พระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวและสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าราไพพรรณี พระบรมราชินี ได้เสด็จประพาส ต่างประเทศ รวม ๔ ครั้ง ดังนี้ ครั้งที่ ๑ วันที่ ๓๑ กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. ๒๔๗๒–วันที่ ๑๑ ตุลาคม พ.ศ. ๒๔๗๒ เสด็จ พระราชดาเนินเยือนประเทศสิงคโปร์ ชวา และบาหลี ครั้งที่ ๒ วันที่ ๖ เมษายน พ.ศ. ๒๔๗๓–วันที่ ๘ พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. ๒๔๗๓ เสด็จ พระราชดาเนินเยือนอินโดจีน
